Accessibility Statement

We are located in the centre of the village in a quiet courtyard behind the Small Talk Tea Room and next to the Lygon Arms Hotel. The Guest House was built in the 1960’s and has standard width doorways and corridors. We have a stair lift for guest use and the guest house is suitable for people with limited mobility, but not suitable for people who use a wheelchair all of the time.

Pre arrival

• All of the village shops and restaurants are within a few minutes walk of our guesthouse.
• Busses to Evesham, Cheltenham, Moreton-in-Marsh and Stratford all stop in the High street just outside the courtyard. Most services run 3 or 4 times a day.

• The nearest railway station is in Evesham which is 5 miles away. Taxis are available at the railway station and a regular bus service runs from the station to Broadway.

• Please contact us for timetable details and Taxi firm telephone numbers. We can book a taxi for you in advance if you wish.

• Unfortunately we do not cater for pets.

• Brochures, menus and information leaflets can be provided in large print format if required.

Arrival

• If possible please advise us of your expected time of arrival.

• We would like you to arrive after 2 p.m. – but we are happy to to arrange for rooms to be available earlier if necessary e.g. for weddings etc

• Parking is available in a level car park behind the courtyard in Back Lane – please see “How to find us” page on the website for details. There is no vehicular access directly from the High Street. We share the car park with other businesses if there are no spaces available when you arrive, you can park in Back lane free of charge.

• The courtyard has a level, gravelled surface and the car park is approximately 20 yards from our front door. We are happy to help with carrying luggage of pushing wheelchairs if necessary.

• There is a small paved area which is a couple of inches up from the gravel in front of the main door  and there is a 1 inch lip on the door.

• Please ring the bell on arrival.

Public areas

Ground floor

• A large lounge with a licensed bar is situated on the ground floor to the left of the main entrance. The bar operates on a ‘trust’ basis, please help yourself and record your drinks on the pad provided. The space behind the bar is quite narrow, please ask if you need help.

• The lounge contains a large television with DVD player, and a number of board games. There is a selection of DVD’s available in the lounge and many more are available on request.

• Racks of brochures giving information about local attractions are situated at the bottom of the stairs and on other surfaces throughout the guest house.

Upper floor.

• The dining room and guest bedrooms are on the Upper Floor.

• There are 12 carpeted steps up to the first floor. The stairway is very wide and has a hand rail on both sides.

• There is a ramp to the bottom stair and a stair lift for guests with limited mobility. Please ask for advice and /or assistance with operating the stair lift.

• The dining room has a laminated floor and has seating for up to 17 guests. We are happy to move tables to provide better access or to accommodate large groups.

• The guest bedrooms are on a corridor up two steps from the dining room level. The steps have a grab rail on the right had wall. The corridor and steps are carpeted.

Guest Rooms

• We have six guest rooms with en-suite bath/shower rooms– two twin, two standard doubles and two doubles with four poster beds. We are happy to put extra beds and cots into rooms to accommodate family groups, but this does limit floor space.

• All double beds are accessible from both sides

• All rooms have a wardrobe, chest of drawers, hospitality tray, colour t.v., two easy chairs and a dressing table with stool.

• All beds are made up synthetic duvets and pillows.

• Additional sheets and blankets are available on request.

• All rooms have a welcome book, containing information to help guests. Please do not hesitate to ask about places of interest, restaurants etc.

Room 4

• Large double room with a small shower room containing shower, w.c. and wash basin.

• Twin room with large bathroom containing separate shower and bath, w.c. and wash basin.

• The shower has a grab rail on the back wall and a 9 inch step up into the shower tray.
• There is a pull down hand rail on the w.c.

Room 6

• Double room with four poster bed with bathroom.

• Large bathroom with bath (shower over the bath), wash basin and w.c.

• There is a handrail fitted on the wall over the bath.

Room 7

• Twin room with large bathroom containing bath (shower over the bath , w.c. and wash basin.

Room 8

• Double room with four poster bed with bathroom.

• Large bathroom with bath (shower over the bath), wash basin and w.c.

Room 9

• Double room with shower room containing shower, w.c. and wash basin.

Courtyard

• The courtyard is a pleasant, quite space, but is not private. We can provide garden chairs if guests wish to sit outside.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Emergencies

• There are fire extinguishers at the main entrance, in lounge at the top of the stairs, at the fire escape and half way along the guest corridor.

• The guest house has an electronic fire alarm with break glass activators at the top of the stairs and on the guest corridor. In addition, there is a hand bell at the top of the stairs. Please advise us if you have a hearing impairment and may not hear the alarm.

• All rooms are fitted with smoke alarms and heat sensors in cupboards with hot water cylinders.

• Evacuation is via the main entrance or the fire escape at the end of the guest corridor. In an emergency guests should use the nearest available exit and congregate on back lane just outside the car park entrance.

• There is a large step to access the fire escape.

Smoking

• Smoking is not allowed anywhere inside the property. Guest may smoke in the courtyard if they wish

Special diets etc

• We are happy to cater for special diets etc – please advise before arrival.

• We can refrigerate any medicines or baby food.

• Mobile phone reception is generally good.
